Welcome to Our New Website
We are pleased to announce that St. Stephen’s Episcopal Pro-Cathedral has a new home on the web.
For some time, we have wanted a website that reflects the life of this parish as it actually is — a place of worship, of music, and of service in the heart of Wilkes-Barre. The site you are looking at is the result of that effort, rebuilt from the ground up.
What You’ll Find
Worship. Service times, seasonal schedules, and information about the liturgies that shape our week and our year. Whether you have worshipped here for decades or are considering a first visit, everything you need to plan your Sunday is now a click away.
Music. Under the direction of Canon Mark Laubach, our Organist and Choirmaster since 1986, St. Stephen’s maintains one of the most active liturgical and choral music programs in the region. The new site gathers our choral offerings, concert series, and Music from St. Stephen’s — heard weekly on WVIA 89.9 FM Public Radio — all in one place.
Our History. Chartered in 1817, St. Stephen’s has a story worth telling. The present building, consecrated in 1899, is the fifth to stand on this site. You’ll find that history laid out here, from the early days of religious life in Wilkes-Barre through the church you see today.
Getting in Touch. Contact information, directions, and details about parish ministries and outreach are easier to find than ever before.
Built for Every Device
The new site was designed to work as well on a phone in the pew as it does on a desktop at home. Pages load quickly, text is easy to read, and the calendar and service information stay current.
A Word of Thanks
Our thanks go to everyone who contributed photographs, historical material, and patient proofreading as this project came together, and to Diamond City IT for the design, development, and migration work behind it.
Tell Us What You Think
A website is never truly finished. If you spot something that needs correcting, or if there is information you were looking for and could not find, we would be glad to hear from you. Please reach out through the contact page.
We hope this new site serves you well — and we hope to see you in person soon.
The Doors Are Open. Come In.
